Writer / Poet / Photographer / Digital Composite Artist

I abandoned a science career to start Word Flight and Light, a freelance writing and photography business. Over the past 15 years, I’ve written bios, copy, grant applications, reports, and poems, and captured thousands of nature photos, and the occasional headshots of people and pets too. Four of my images have been converted into traffic signal box wraps in London, Ontario, Canada.

You’ll find my work in national magazines, at international websites, and in a book called “The Fur-Bearing Trout…and Other True Tales of Canadian Life.” It’s available at Amazon.ca.

Visit the Writing page to read clips of my writing and the Photography pages to browse through some of my nature photos, including my new composite images.

Each composite was created by merging elements of two or more of my photographs. To preserve creative control and human artistry, I do not use AI-image generators. The emotive, fictional worlds encourage reflection on how ecosystems are interconnected, interdependent, and indispensable.

"The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame is often faced with tough, scientifically-based writing assignments and not everyone is up to the challenge. Rebecca St. Pierre certainly was when she wrote the 18 biographies of our laureates. Rebecca’s work was delivered professionally, with precision, and on time. She took a big load off our shoulders and we were very pleased."

~Janet Tufts, prior Executive Director of The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame
