Word Flight and Light

Writer/Photographer: Rebecca St. Pierre

Why the name Word Flight and Light?

Excellent writing has a wonderful flow. The reader doesn't stumble on awkward phrasing

or abrupt changes in thought. With each sentence seamlessly blending into one another,

the writing takes flight.

As an avid bird lover, flight also pays homage to our feathered friends. One of her

favourite birds, the Great Blue Heron, can be found on her business cards, within the website

header, and as a signature stamp on the photography art cards she sells at at four London,

Ontario shops.

And Light? In photography, lighting can transform a picture from ordinary into extraordinary.

Textures, shadows, and subtle changes in colour can all be manipulated by tweaking the

angle and intensity of light.

Now, about the writer and photographer, Rebecca St. Pierre...

Rebecca became a member of the Professional Writers

Association of Canada shortly after establishing her business,

Word Flight and Light.

Although she recently retired her Canon AE1 for a digital SLR

Canon Rebel, her photography remains focused on nature. Not

surprisingly digital photography has led her to become familiar with Photoshop, the results of which you see on this page. The original

of the photo on the left was taken by HRM Photography. With the

addition of a sleeve, the removal of a hair barrette, and a snip here

and there of the earrings, Rebecca transformed her wedding day

bridal ensemble into a website business photo.

Her writing and photography business was created only after establishing an extensive background in science. This includes not only an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Windsor, but also many years of experience as a research technician at Western University and a biopharmaceutical company Viron Therapeutics. The experimental contributions she made resulted in coauthorship on eight scientific papers.

For brief periods of time she was also the Discovery Day Coordinator for The Canadian Medical

Hall of Fame, and a sales associate for Ben Moss Jewellers.
